About Us
The Autonomous Mastery Prototyping Laboratory, or "AMP Lab," is a co-curricular educational lab within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Virginia Tech. The AMP Lab is student-run and student-led.
Our purpose is to provide ECE students with a creative, hands-on environment where they can develop personal projects outside of their coursework and design teams. Members gain practical engineering experience by designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting their own projects.
How does it work?
AMP Lab members develop their own personal projects throughout the semester. The lab provides tools, equipment, electronic components, training, and approved project funding to help members turn their ideas into working projects.
Members are expected to remain active and make meaningful progress on their projects while using the lab as an opportunity to develop practical engineering and problem-solving skills.
Many AMP Lab members have gone on to receive internships and full-time positions, with their hands-on project experience helping prepare them for technical roles.
